Bespoke software answer

What is bespoke software?

Bespoke software is an application or platform designed and engineered for one organisation's specific requirements. It models that organisation's workflows, rules, roles, data and integrations rather than asking the organisation to adopt the fixed operating assumptions of an off-the-shelf product.

01

Bespoke does not mean unstructured

Good custom development still uses proven frameworks, reusable components and standard engineering practices. The bespoke element is the operating model and product behaviour.

02

Configuration is not always custom development

A configured SaaS product can be valuable, but the supplier still defines the core data model and limits. Bespoke software gives the commissioned system its own architecture and roadmap.

03

The decision depends on operational value

Custom software is strongest when the workflow creates advantage, existing tools cause material risk, or ownership and integration justify the investment.
