Rules, evidence and control

Software engineering for regulated and high-consequence operations

Software for regulated operations must do more than store records. It should make authority explicit, apply known rules consistently, preserve evidence and fail safely when information or permission is missing. Altari Systems designs these controls as part of the product architecture.

01

Translate obligations into system behaviour

Policies and legal requirements become useful only when the application knows when they apply, what evidence is required and who can authorise an exception. This translation needs domain and engineering work together.

02

Design the audit trail at the start

An audit trail is strongest when it records the decision context as events occur: actor, authority, inputs, time, state change and supporting evidence. Retrofitted logs rarely answer the difficult questions.

03

Fail closed where the risk demands it

For consequential actions, uncertainty should not silently become permission. The system can block, escalate or request stronger evidence according to the configured policy.
